HALOU is the sound of tension held beautifully in place. A Bay Area outfit built around the creative nucleus of Rebecca and Ryan Coseboom, a duo whose work lands somewhere between atmosphere and confrontation.
Once aligned with the trip-hop movement of the mid-90s, HALOU has since unraveled into something more volatile and precise. Think Fleetwood Mac left too long in the dark, or the Cocteau Twins before the beauty smoothed over the edges.
Over the years, they’ve built a quiet legacy: 38 million views on a single video, 39,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, an album etched into KEXP’s “Most Played of All Time” list, and a release on the cult-favorite Nettwerk Records. They’ve collaborated with Robin Guthrie and Zoe Keating, performed official sets at both SXSW and Bumbershoot (twice in one weekend), and opened for Bob Mould on a U.S. tour.
Their latest release, THE BUTCHER’S BILL (Summer 2024), marks a new chapter that’s leaner, sharper, and unmistakably HALOU.
