Effie Zilch is an idea\, a muse\, a guiding light – it’s also a rock and roll band. Band members Steve Wyreman and Evanne Barcenas have been making music together since they were teenagers living in Northern California. Though they are children of the 90s\, they entrenched themselves in the sounds of San Francisco in the 60s – everything from Jefferson Airplane to Jimi Hendrix to The Staples Singers infiltrated their stereos and young minds. Throughout their formative years\, music had always been lumitive in their lives: by age 8\, Evanne was given her first guitar and Steve was sneaking into his older brother’s room to practice on his. \nWhile Evanne nearly gave up playing guitar after realizing she wasn’t instantly as good as Bonnie Raitt\, Steve meticulously listened to Hendrix songs and learned to play them by ear. After years of honing his craft and developing unquestionable talent\, Steve began working with artists like Leon Bridges\, Rihanna\, John Legend and Jay-Z and spent years touring with The Rolling Stones\, Richard Ashcroft and Mary J. Blidge. By 2019\, Steve became a Grammy-award winning songwriter for Leon Bridges’\, Bet Ain’t Worth the Hand (and nominated again this year for Bridges’ 2021 Gold-Diggers Sound album). Evanne took a more circuitous route\, diving instead into tech and teaching jobs. Luckily for Steve\, after about ten years of putting down the pen\, Evanne returned to her first true and tortuous love: music.

Produced by Jay Joyce\, the LP finds Molly going to a whole new place\, blending pop\, country\, rock\, and flat-picking\, plus one murder ballad and a surprising cover of Icona Pop and Charli XCX’s “I Love It.” Molly’s stunning guitar work is more up-front on this album than ever before. \nTuttle spent five years quietly building the album while touring extensively and releasing music. “I’ve been wanting to make this record for such a long time\,” she says. “Part of me was scared to do such a big departure… It’s like\, ‘You know what? I’m just not going to care what people think. As a result\, the music conveys friendship\, respect\, warmth\, spontaneous conversation and companionship for listeners and performers alike.\n\nOriginally formed from shows at Phil Lesh’s Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael\, CA\, in 2012\, the Terrapin Family Band began as the venue’s official house band. Terrapin Crossroads’ constant shows\, often featuring Phil\, created an opportunity for the musicians of Terrapin Crossroads to perform together and with a diverse cast of visiting musicians. Through playing in this setting\, the band grew into a richly nuanced and fun group\, weaving the classics with obscure covers and fresh original music to create a unique musical tapestry. The band went through many editions throughout the years\, but always lay on the foundation of Grahame Lesh\, Ross James\, Alex Koford\, & Jason Crosby. Around their prolific individual musical output\, they would always come back together as members of the TFB.\n\nA communal bond brought the band members back together in 2022 – a real need to make music together again. Over time\, the group’s music has developed organically\, merging and fusing each musician’s influences into a hard-charging sound rooted in the communal/collective\, telepathic\, exploratory spirit of the Grateful Dead. This is a new twist on the band\, and we are excited to see where it takes us. What began as a house band for Phil’s Terrapin Crossroads has turned into something much more\, and we’re excited to take the unique Terrapin Family Band sound into this next era as we explore new musical grounds.

He has received numerous awards\, including the GRAMMY Living Legend Award\, NARAS Lifetime Achievement Award\, Honorary Doctorate (Howard University)\, Kennedy Center Honors\, and the National Medal of Arts Award from the President of the United States. He has also been inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame. \nBorn and raised in Detroit\, Michigan\, Robinson founded The Miracles while still in high school. The group was Berry Gordy’s first vocal group\, and it was at Robinson’s suggestion that Gordy started the Motown Record dynasty.
